Brand New Officials for 2015 (youth and high school)

**If you are a returning official and missed the mandatory training meetings please attend one of the sessions below**

The Utah Lacrosse Officials Association (ULOA) is recruiting Officials for Boys Youth Games & Boys High School Games.  If you are interested, now is the time!

-Officials are Trained and Paid
-Officials must be age 16 and up

Mandatory meeting for all brand new officials (both high school and youth).  Good refresher for youth officials.

We as the board hope that all of you have had a great holiday season and end of 2014. We are looking forward to a great new year. As well as a wonderful lacrosse season in 2015. The lacrosse season is fast approaching. This is a save the date email for all the training that we as a board have planned for the 2015 season.

Saturday, January 31, 2015 – Mandatory new rules and ULOA business meeting

Location: St. John’s Elementary School Cafeteria (Juan Diego Campus–Northeast corner, 300 East 11800 South, Draper)
Time: 9:00am – Noon

Tuesday, February 3, 2015 – Make up rules meeting

Location: Westminster College, Malouf Hall Room 201 (1840 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City)
Time: 6:00-8:00pm

Saturday, March 14, 2015 – FINAL Make up rules and NEW OFFICIALS meeting

Location: Utah Lacrosse Chapter, 676 W. Confluence Ave (4260 South), Murray, UT 84123
Time: 9:00am – Noon

To be certified and able to officiate this season you must attend one of the three meetings above. We want everyone that can to attend the new rules meeting on January 31 there is important association business that needs to be discussed. This includes the college officials as well as the youth level officials. We want everyone there.

The season training dates are as follows:

Helmets: Memo to All Officials Regarding NOCSAE Decision

On Monday, November 24, 2014, NOCSAE (National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment) issued a statement announcing that it had voided the manufacturer’s certification of compliance for all manufacturing dates, for the Cascade Model R and the Warrior Regulator lacrosse helmets (see photo below).

Please note: the Cascade models CPV-R, CPX-R and CS-R and the Warrior TII are not affected by this decision by NOCSAE.

2015 US Lacrosse Certification Exams–Now Available

Message from ULOA Assigner Bob Imhoff:

The 2015 LAX Officials Exams (High School and Youth) are now available.

The ULOA has stipulated that the exam(s) must be completed and passed prior to officiating this Spring. Remember–if you are a high school and youth official, you must complete BOTH the NFHS and the Youth exam.

2015 US Lacrosse Officials Certification Exams Now Available

US Lacrosse today opened the 2015 US Lacrosse Certification Exams for both boys and girls game officials. In addition to the certification exams which utilizes NFHS Rules for the boys certification exam and USL rules for the girls certification exam, US Lacrosse has also published the 2015 US Lacrosse Youth Rules exams for both the boys and girls youth game officials.

US Lacrosse officials must pass their certification test annually in order to achieve certification and/or maintain certification for the upcoming season. Officials that call the youth game should also complete the youth exam for their game as well.

To access the exams, please visit www.uslacrosse.arbitersports.com. You must be an active US Lacrosse member as an official and be logged in using your email and password for ArbiterSports. For assistance access the tests please utilize these two guides below:

The exam must be completed online at the US Lacrosse CentralHub, powered by ArbiterSports. PDF versions of the exams are available on the testing site as well for officials to print off ahead of time. The tests are open book and can be completed at any time.

Certification for officials by US Lacrosse annual requirements in addition to the rules test include, maintaining USL membership, annual classroom time and an on-field evaluation in some instances. Please check with your local trainer to see when these additional components for certification will be held in your local area.
